I’d always been an MSN user and useful to spend many a great evening chatting to people as it was a great way to stay in contact without running up a hefty phone bill.

As I have best freinds and family abroad, MSN was perfect for me.

But within 2007, after ignoring many a request, I signed up for a Facebook account just to see what most of the fuss was concerning.

It was amazing to view how many most people I actually reconnected using and was willing to find friends that I’d grown up with but for whatever reason, we lost touch.

The flip side though was most people, that I might not have wanted to help reconnect with on there but that is actually what the Block button is for, I guess.

With 2007, the format was much dissimilar to how it is now. There were ‘Boxes’ were you could customise your page and show people that which you liked or hated, you could exhibit people what music you had been listening to, and there were many other things.

My page quite possibly showed Moon Phases, it had some sort of box that everyday generated an Inspirational Insurance quote, I even displayed an everyday Funny Cat Picture but these all disappeared with an alternative format and Facebook became more App orientated, therefore instead of someone looking at your profile page just by choice, they would receive notifications of anything you did, like enjoy games.

This caused no end of problems for me personally, personally that I adjusted my settings but if others didn’t adjust their settings we can still see ‘everything’ so all I bought were comments ranging from, “My God, people always play that will game” to “Can people stop sending me game requests, As i don’t play” to help “You saddo”.

Now wouldn’t it have been easier if people who don’t like games would go into their Privacy Settings and block all Apps instead of ‘having a go’ at me?

The idea of a Social Network to me is usually to be sociable. But I found just through games alone, I has been upsetting people!

I use Facebook because I have family and friends abroad that As i cannot see regularly and I use it more now than ever because I have moved away from my best freinds and family in London.

Counselling is the answer for everyone but until that will comes through, I use Facebook to vent to people who I think are my friends.

Now over the last 5 years, status updates have also caused me no end of problems nevertheless I have always said to anyone who comes with me, “you know what I am like. If I have something to speak about, I say it and if you fail to handle it, please don’t add me” which leads me to the most crucial point of this article.
